Wilda Gerideau-Squires

Wilda Gerideau-Squires, born June 21, 1946, is an African-American fine art photographer noted for her distinctive style of photography which includes abstract images created through the interplay of fabric and light, as well as her poignant photographs of women. Her photographs have been exhibited in the United States and Europe and she has received numerous national and international awards for her images. In 2008, Women In Photography International named Gerideau-Squires among the world’s most Distinguished Women Photographers. Her photographs are included in the Peter E. Palmquist Collection at Yale University’s Beinecke Library, the State House Office Building in Boston and numerous private collections in the United States and Canada.

Gerideau-Squires is a graduate of the College of DuPage. Her professional affiliations include the Cambridge Art Association, London Photographic Association, Pen and Brush, Photographic Resource Center at Boston University, Women In Photography International and the Royal Photographic Society. She is a resident artist at Western Avenue Studios in Lowell, MA and serves on the Board of Advisors of the Brush Art Gallery and Studios, also in Lowell.

Awards

In 2008, Women In Photography International[1] named Gerideau-Squires to their prestigious List of Distinguished Women Photographers[2] that honors the accomplishments of dedicated working women photographers around the globe. In 2007 Gerideau-Squires was also among 75 women from around the world honored for their portraitures by Women In Photography International.[3] Her work was also recognized in the 2007 Prix de la Photographie Paris[4] and the 2007 Photography Masters Cup.[5]
